About Us

Second Story Studios was founded on the idea that students shouldn’t be forced to navigate the overwhelming world of architecture school alone.

We’re based in Lawrence, KS at the University of Kansas. Our full-time team is small, but dedicated, and consists of two 4th year students in the interior architecture program. Our guest writers and editors are students and professors in the School of Architecture and Design.

Second Story Studios is run entirely by student volunteers, so sometimes we need to take breaks (especially around finals week). Thank you in advance for your understanding.

We are passionate about what we do.

That’s why we’re here.

We’ve struggled through those long nights in studio. We know what a pain it can be to find the resources you need, and we know how much time finding that one file you need for your project can suck up. We started Second Story Studios because we were tired of wasting valuable time, and we know you are, too.

The Team

Our team is small, but dedicated. Meet the faces behind Second Story Studios.

Sam Church

Sam is the founder of Second Story Studios. What started as a Google Doc shared with a select few friends quickly grew into a passion project. Sam has taught himself Revit and the Adobe suite, and is learning Sketchup. In their free time, Sam likes to bake, sketch, and create hyper-specific Spotify playlists. You can find them climbing trees on campus on warm summer weekends.

Grace Craig

Grace is a 4th year Interior Architecture student at the University of Kansas, and during her time at school, she has become skilled with Revit and a multitude of Adobe products. She enjoys helping other students with design-related questions, and she sees Second Story Studios as another chance to do so. Grace loves to be with family and friends, and spends as much time as she can with her dogs.
